Using Self-Talk, & Re-Programming Techniques

Self-Talk

According to researchers, the average person talks to themselves at the
rate of about 12,000 words per hour. If fact, if you were to actually
calculate the cumulative time spent speaking to yourself, you might be
surprised, or even shocked to learn that your internal dialog—what we
call your self-talk-would account for more speech than that made by you
to everyone else—combined!

So the real question is, what are we saying to ourselves all day long?

Most of our internal conversation consists of: What am I going to wear
today? What's for breakfast, lunch, or dinner? Is there enough gas in
the car, money in the bank... Oh, and that reminds me, the Visa bill is
due again... I've got to stop off and pick up the dry cleaning on my way
home. Why is traffic always so bad on this road? Is their enough milk in
the fridge... And on, and on.

The problem is, that most of our so-called self-talk is anything but
healthy for our life, business, or even our self-esteem!

Outwardly Example

You state that you want this home-based business to work for you.
However, internally, your ongoing dialog sounds more like this: "I can't
believe it's Monday...and I don't want to go to the business briefing
again tonight. Besides I don't even have a guest... Why do they want me
to come anyway? No one talks to me... I just sit there, along, watching
that same stupid guy...oh, what's his name? Jim...no...John...no, James,
yes, I think it's James... I bet all the really want is my 7 bucks...I
guess so they can pay for the room. I wonder what they really do with
all that money?" And on, and on, and still onward your self-talk goes...
Until the outward decision is made via the inward dialog: "I'm not going
to the briefing tonight!" Which later becomes "I'm just going to take
the summer off." Which eventually translates into, "I'm not going
back... This business just isn't for me."

What can you do to change this negative self-talk?

1) be aware that this is going on..
2) be aware that your self-talk has, is, and will
continue to effect everything you do.
3) be aware that only you can change your internal
dialog.
4) as the screenwriter of your own life, you can
re-write your internal daily script...

In essence, understand the roll self-talk plays in your life, learn to
more carefully choose your words, and then focus more on talking about
what you really want. Because the mind cannot focus on the reverse of an
idea... Meaning that when you say, "Don't forget to pick up the dry
cleaning." You most assuredly will forget. It's remember to pick up the
dry cleaning.

Exercise #1: Tomorrow morning, from the time you arise until the time
you retire, write down everything that crosses your mind that is, and is
not positive...

Exercise #2: When you are speaking to yourself—or to anyone else for
that matter—always remember to speak what you want to occur: Watch the
video, bring a guest, qualify for the bonus, etc.

Exercise #3: To help reprogram negative feelings, attitudes, and
beliefs, and to positively effecting the way you feel about yourself,
repeat these three little words, "I Like Myself!" 1,000 times per day,
for the next 30 days! This will require about 12 minutes of internal
self-talk per day.
