Three Short Stories

Three Short Stories
by Michael S. Clouse

It has been said, "The most successful people in our industry are master
storytellers." Because this is so extraordinarily true, please allow me
to offer you three "anonymously written" narratives—all provided for
your enjoyment, and possible inclusion in that next formal business
presentation of yours...

The Value of Time

To realize the value of one year:
Ask a student who has failed a final exam.

To realize the value of one month:
Ask a mother who has given birth to a premature baby.

To realize the value of one week:
Ask the editor of a weekly newspaper.

To realize the value of one hour:
Ask two lovers who are waiting to meet.

To realize the value of one minute:
Ask a person who has missed the bus, train, or plane.

To realize the value of one second:
Ask a person who has survived an accident.

To realize the value of one millisecond:
Ask the person who has won a silver medal in the Olympics...

Thirteen years have passed since the Exxon Valdez oil spill devastated
Prince William Sound in Alaska. Eight years have passed since the O.J.
Simpson trial ended. And we are already two years into the new
millennium.

With this in mind, I would strongly suggest that today, you begin your
journey toward personal and financial freedom. Because time is waiting
for no one....

The Obstacle In Your Path

Long ago, in a land not so far away, a King had a large boulder placed
upon a roadway. He then hid himself and watched to see if anyone would
remove the huge stone.

To his surprise, many of the King's wealthiest merchants came along and
simply chose to walked around it... Many loudly blamed the King for not
keeping the roads clear, but no one even attempted to move this massive
hindrance out of the way.

By and by, a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables.
Approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden, and tried to
move the stone to one side of the road. After much toil, pushing and
straining, he finally succeeded.

As the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse
lying on the road where he had displaced the immense rock... The purse
contained many gold coins, along with a note from the King indicating
that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the
roadway.

That day the peasant learned what many will never understand—that every
obstacle presents an opportunity to improve one's condition. Indeed, it
could be argued that all of us have something in our way... And, too,
all of us have the same choice—accept things as they are, or make a
change. Now that you have been introduced to our business, that choice
belongs to you....

It Takes A Village

If we could shrink Earth's population down to a village of exactly one
hundred people—with all existing human ratios remaining the same—what
would it look like?

There would be fifty-seven Asians, twenty-one Europeans, fourteen from
the Western Hemisphere (North and South) and eight Africans. Fifty-one
would be female; Forty-nine would be male. Seventy would be non-white;
Thirty white. Seventy would be non-Christian; Thirty Christian.

Fifty percent of the entire world's wealth would be in the hands of only
six people, and all six would be citizens of the United States. Eighty
would live in substandard housing. Seventy would be unable to read.
Fifty would suffer from malnutrition...

One would be near birth; One would be near death. Only one would have a
college education. And perhaps most interesting of all, no one would own
a computer—making it impossible for you to be reading these words.

When one considers our world from such an incredibly compressed
perspective, the need for both tolerance and understanding becomes
glaringly apparent. Remember this the next time someone suggests that
his or her Network Marketing business is better than yours. And then go
find someone who is truly looking for all that you have to offer....

All the best,

MSC
