Prosperity: The Choice Is Yours

An Object  Lesson In Giving & Receiving
By: Dave Cole

As many of you know, I'm manager for the local Pony
baseball team. This past week I've been soliciting donations for our upcoming baseball season.

Guess I'm pretty good at asking people for money <grin>

Anyway, I made a stop for the first time at a fairly new business in town called Corso Oil. I knew the owner from years back, and was surprised to see a very familiar girl behind the counter when I walked in.

Here she had worked at the local bank as a teller over 15 years ago. At that time I had treated her well and we developed a small friendship, nothing serious, just enough to be able to joke around a little, and have a good time when we met at the bank.

She remembered me and because I had treated her well in the past, now respected me enough to have a nice conversation and pay attention to what I was saying, so I came out of there with a very nice contribution from them.

And, that is on top of the fact that they already sponsored an entire team in another district, plus gave money to various kid's organizations like the Cub Scouts, wrestling and so on.

I just wonder what kind of reaction I would have gotten
from her, had I treated her badly years ago?

Do you think I'd have gotten the money from them?

Do you think she would have even talked with me?

I highly doubt it.

The next stop was a big car dealer. Went in and the salesperson told me how business was down, things weren't going well, they were considering laying off, and sorry, but they couldn't contribute.

Next stop was a convenience store. They had given nice contributions the past 3 years I've collected. The manager was happy to see me. She said how nice it was they could help the kids out in our town, since so many of their customers lived in our area.

Walked out of there with another real nice donation.

Half mile down the same road, another car dealership,
and they sponsor two entire teams, a girls softball and
a T-ball team. They just bought a bigger acreage lot,
are completing a huge building for a show room, and
are selling cars like hot cakes.

Half mile from the first dealership.

They give well over one thousand dollars a year to kids baseball alone...and have done so for at least the past 5 years, plus they give to other sports and kids events.

So we've got four businesses all on the same road, three gave generous funds, one wouldn't. Three were thriving businesses, one was down in the dumps.

Seems strange, but that same scenario happens a lot. I
see businesses that give big sums of money to help the
kids and all of them, every single one is doing well in
business.

Does any one else see what I'm seeing?

Does anyone else think that maybe, just maybe giving
before you receive has something to do with it all?

I wonder.

I wonder about all these wanna-be marketers out there
that are only concerned with taking.

I look at guys like Frank Garon, who is making big time
dollars and since Frank and I are pretty good friends, I
absolutely know he's made a career out of trying to help
others make it happen for them online.

I know, as busy as Frank is, If I called him tomorrow
and said. "Frank, I need your help," he'd be the first one to drop whatever he was doing and spend as much time with me as needed.

I see a guy who gives, and gives, and will give everything he can to help another person.

And I see the same guy who has come from bankruptcy to being one of the best known personalities in Internet marketing.

I see everyday emails from un-knowns who spam the
heck out of me, actually expecting me to join some stupid program they offer, without ever being able to even contact them, or discuss the venture. They just want mine and your money.

They "hide" behind un-deliverable email addresses and
un-known PO boxes, no number, probably even use
aliases as their names.

Of course, I wonder why no one ever goes to them for
advice, or help or assistance when things fall through the roof.

And I wonder why they seem to feel the need to resort to unscrupulous tactics to try and make a buck.

It just doesn't work that way friends.

I'll tell you this, a guy like Frank Garon works his butt off to make things happen for him, and he also has a heart of gold. He's sincere and honest and really cares about you.

About you as a person, and about your business.

How many of these spammers do that?

They harvest your address, then load them into a bulk
mailer and set it. Then walk away. They don't care.

They stupidly expect to receive and never expect to
give back.

I see another person like Diana Ward who again, works her butt off building and maintaining a thriving Internet business. Diana is one of the most helpful persons I know of.

She is always there for me, always willing to stop what
she's doing and fix whatever problems I may have with
web sites or technical stuff. She's as honest as the day is long.

And she's there to help anybody who comes to her. I've seen her bend over backwards trying to please other customers of hers.

She cares.

How many people online do you know that really, actually, truly care about you as a person?

Some folks live by the "Golden Rule" ...give unto others
first....and some folks live by the "Yellow Rule"...do
unto others Before they do unto you.

Who are you going to be like?

Are you a giver before being a taker?

I really believe you are.

And You Thought Gas Was Expensive....

Be glad your car doesn't run on water.
You think gas is expensive? Stop and consider...

 > Diet Snapple 16 oz $1.29 .......... $10.32 per gallon

 > Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz $1.19 ...........$9.52 per gallon

 > Gatorade 20 oz $1.59 ..... $10.17 per gallon

>  Ocean Spray 16 oz $1.25 .......... $10.00 per gallon

>  Brake Fluid 12 oz $3.15 .......... $33.60 per gallon

>  Vick's Nyquil 6 oz $8.35 .... $178.13 per gallon

>  Pepto Bismol 4 oz $3.85 ........ $123.20 per gallon

>  Whiteout 7 oz $1.39 ....... . $25.42 per gallon

>  Scope 1.5 oz $0.99 .........$84.48 per gallon

And this is the REAL KICKER...

>  Evian water 9 oz $1.49..........$21.19 per gallon?!

$21.19 for WATER - and the buyers don't even know
the source.

So, the next time you're at the pump, be glad your car
doesn't run on water, Scope, or Whiteout, or God forbid Pepto Bismal or Nyquil.

Just a little humor to help ease the pain of your next trip
to the pump......yea right......

buying power.

2. Baby Boomers are more concerned about their appearance than any previous generation.
