I Love It When A Plan Comes Together

Prosperity: The Choice Is Yours
May 15, 2004

Back in December of last year I wrote you about the
Action Plan my son and I had for getting him to make the
first string on the local high school baseball team.

You may read that issue online here:

At the time, I had talked with two coaches for the team,
and quite frankly, they offered little hope at all of Karl
winning a starting position. They pretty much had their
minds made up that Karl would be third string first
base man and the number three pitcher.

Last fall, Karl and I started going into the batting cage three
to four times a week and would hit batting practice for at
least 30 minutes every time, along with him pitching
and doing his pitching drills.

On top of that, Karl worked out for 45 minutes to an hour
almost every night in the gym, lifting weights and using
the weight transfer machines, plus we did a lot to
work on his mindset in between times.

Many of those cold, hard, winter nights would find us traveling
to the cage to hit late in the evenings when no one else
was around.

When the high school season started, Karl was not on the
first string. He had done very well in spring training and
really surprised the coaches with his great attitude and work
ethic, but still he didn't start the season as a starter.

When he did get in the game, he crushed the ball coming
up with some hard driven base hits, plus his defensive play
was excellent. He so much impressed the coaches, that
within a couple of games, Karl earned his first string
starting position at first base.

Not only that, he pitched so well, that he soon became
the number two pitcher on the staff.

For the season as a pitcher he had a won loss record of
4 wins, 0 losses.

The Carmichaels team went 12 and 2 for the season and
earned a playoff berth. In the first playoff game, Karl
started at first base, and then went in to pitch for two
relief innings to finish out the game, striking out 4 out
of 6 batters.

The local paper featured his picture on the sports page, and
I've put up a web page with the picture, write up about the
game and several pictures I took at the game of Karl.

The reason I'm writing this to you is for two reasons:

1. I'm a proud dad who is doing some bragging

2. Without an Action Plan, plus the dedication to follow
through with it and do more than it took, Karl would never
have achieved his goal.

You see, that's one of the biggest reasons why we fail
at anything in life. It's because we don't know where we're
going, and also because we don't dedicate ourselves to
doing the necessary steps to accomplish our plans.

Actually it's easy to set up a goal or an Action Plan, the
hard part is following it.

We did, and it paid off big time for Karl.

I challenge you today, to set your own unique Action Plan,
for your life and for your business, and then to have the guts
and determination to do whatever it takes to follow
that plan through and make yourself a winner.

You already have what it takes to do it. You just have to
knuckle down, buckle down and do it, do it, do it.

I hope you enjoy today's issue,
Dave

PS: If you're kinda stuck on how to get things going with
your business, or your life, I would highly recommend your
taking a serious look at what Jack Zufelt has to offer.

You Are A Winner

When all seems lost, and I know sometimes the situations we
often find ourselves in seem hopeless, 90+% of the time it is
not hopeless.

But 90% of the people quit.

I feel your frustration. No one is immune from life's
crashing waves of defeat and torment. No one.

But the only time we can truly lose is when we quit.

Breakthroughs usually come when it looks the darkest.

And when you find yourself in no-win situations and
consistently keep plugging away, you'll succeed so many
times that you will learn this, too. "It ain't over 'til
it's over."

So pick up the phone, get in your car, write that email,
make that apology, do whatever you have to do to fix
whatever isn't working.

Now. Yeah, right now.

You'll be so happy you did.

Even if things don't work out this time, you'll have put
yourself in a position to win. Do that enough times and
you'll be...

A winner in life.

YOU HAVE THE POWER TO SUCCEED

Nothing will happen by itself.
It will all come your way once you understand
that you have to make it come your way.
Life to a large extent is what you make of it.

Success on any major scale requires you to accept responsibility.
Choose the thoughts and actions that will lead you to success.
Nobody can do it for you. Only you can make it happen.
You're the only one that has to live your life.

The day you take complete responsibility for yourself,
the day you stop making any excuses,
that's the day you start on the road to success.

You have the power to succeed at anything.
The power to fulfill your dreams is within you.
